WATER RELATED ACCIDENTS ARE THE SECOND LEADING CAUSE OF ACCIDENTAL DEATH FOR KIDS OF AGES 4 TO 19.

We need your support to educate children to be safe in the water. Help kids become AquaSMART!

The success of this program is evidenced by the fact that this is its' 12th year. We also have a number of consistent teachers; one even received a national award from the National Water Safety Congress. In 2003, the Department received a National award for the poster contest from the National Safe Boating Council.

Cal Boating discovered that although this program is not mandatory, teachers find it important enough to incorporate it into their already overwhelming curriculum requirements. When it was inaugurated in 1993 about 500 students participated. Since then, there has been a tenfold increase in participation.

As a sponsor you will be entitled to the following:

  • Your company's name and logo will be featured as a sponsor on the calendar along with the winning students' artwork. Advertisement for your company will be year-round. This colorful calendar is distributed to all the schools that participated in the contest, more than 3,000 national and local boating organizations, the California Legislature, and the Governor. The artwork is displayed at the State Capitol in the month of May during National Safe Boating Week, 2005. The poster contest is a great advertisement opportunity!
  • You are also invited to participate at each winner's school awards presentation. (Optional)
  • Cal Boating will hold you in the highest esteem, for partnering with us to make California's children safe and water wise.

Lastly and most importantly–the greatest satisfaction in becoming a sponsor for this Safe & Wise Water Ways calendar poster contest, is knowing that because of your interest boating and water safety has been promoted, which could someday save a child's life.
