The California Department of Boating and Waterways would like to invite you to participate in the 19th Annual Safe & Wise Water Ways Poster Contest! All California students in kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to participate. The primary goal of this contest is to educate students to be safe and wise near or in the water.

One winner from each grade level will be selected to have their winning artwork displayed on the 2012 Department of Boating and Waterways’ water and boating safety calendar, which will be distributed to schools, boating safety partners and boating enthusiasts throughout the state.  Additionally, the winning artwork will be displayed at the California State Capitol during National Safe Boating Week (June 1-15) in 2012. All winning students will also receive a new, US Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
