Photography & iNaturalist with Volunteer John Lynch Sunday, January 7: 10 AM
Focus on aesthetic appreciation of Trione-Annadel State Park with Volunteer Interpretive Naturalist and Hike Leader John Lynch. John and several other local nature photographers will guide you along trails to document flora and fauna through postings to iNaturalist, and provide support and guidance for nature photography. The route will include approximately 450 foot elevation gain over about 4 miles of varied trails. This route begins and ends at Parktrail Drive – a neighborhood entrance to Trione-Annadel State Park -- and may include sightings of wildlife. Load the free app iNaturalist on your phone before you arrive and/or bring any camera.
Bill and Dave Hike - Saturday, January 13: 9:45 AM
Join Dave & Bill Hikes as we hike the perimeter of the unburned part of Trione-Annadel State Park. On this 10-mile hike, with an elevation gain of 650 ft, we’ll cover the west end of the park as well as a little bit of Spring Lake Regional Park. Hikers will notice effects of the fire and also regrowth and new life. Wear weather appropriate clothing and bring a lunch and liquids. Meet us in the main parking lot at the end of Channel Drive at 9:45 AM for a prompt 10:00 start. Mid-Week Wander - Wednesday, January 31: 9 AM
Park Aide Sarah Reid will lead hikers on a route to explore what the early rains have provided – what will we find? Newts, mushrooms, gurgling creeks … and more! Pace will be moderate to slow depending on the group and what we discover. Wear layers appropriate for weather and sturdy shoes for hiking.Bring trekking poles, water, snack. HEAVY RAIN CANCELS. This route begins and ends at Channel Drive Parking Lot (Warren Richardson Trailhead) and will last approximately 3 hours on varied terrain and elevation. RSVP not required. Pay day-use fee at STOP sign.
3rd Saturday Trail Work with Sonoma County Trails Council - Saturday, January 20: 9 AM
Non-profit Sonoma County Trails Council offers trail maintenance workdays every month in Trione-Annadel State Park. Come out and get dirty, give some love to the trails, and learn new skills. The Trails Council supplies: gloves, tools, projects, crew leaders and snacks. To sign up, please visit: www.sonomacountytrailscouncil.org. RSVP required. Heavy rain may cancel.
