Commissioner Douglas W. Metz
Douglas W. Metz, of Coronado, was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the California Boating and Waterways Commission in 2006.
He is President of Metz & Associates, and senior counsel to The King Law Group providing professional and general management consulting services to businesses and non-profit organizations. In Washington DC, he was CEO and general counsel of Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America. He served as associate director and general counsel of the Council on International Economic Policy, assistant director of the President’s Economic Policy Board, and executive director of the Domestic Council Committee on Right of Privacy.
Prior to his White House service, Mr. Metz was vice president of the international management consulting firm of Booz, Allen and Hamilton. Earlier, he was a Congressional chief of staff. He served on active duty as an Air Force Judge Advocate.
Mr. Metz has been admitted to the bars of the state of Michigan, the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court.
He is a member of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Infrastructure Committee and its Water Subcommittee. He is active in the Coronado Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Coronado. He is immediate past President of the Coronado Cays Homeowners Association, one of the largest marina communities in California. He is Trustee and Vice President of the Coronado Unified School District.
