Public Outreach
A series of public workshops and meetings with local, county and regional government agencies were held throughout the coastal portions of the state as one of the early tasks in the Sediment Master Plan. The public workshops were an opportunity to share the project plan and goals with the public, gather information on local sedimentation and shoreline erosion problems, identify local sediment management-related activities, and identify coordination and data sharing opportunities with local government and groups such as watershed councils.
The Workshop Coordinator (SANDAG) planned and facilitated eight workshops between February and June, 2004, held at the locations identified in this “Schedule”. General information prepared by SANDAG for all workshops included an “Overview” of the sediment management problem faced by coastal California and what the CSMW hoped to accomplish via the Sediment Master Plan, and a “Public Questionnaire”, which requested information about perceived problems and solutions/opportunities as well as available regional sediment management data and information types.
Comments received at each of the Public workshops have been compiled, and recommendations were incorporated as appropriate. A Workshop Contact List has been compiled to apprise interested parties of significant SMP milestones. Please check back periodically for updates!
